Shawna Robbennolt's Biography
Shawna began her dance training in Sandy, Utah at the Academy of Ballet Arts at the age of seven with Karen Chatterton. She danced with the Mountain West Ballet Company as of of its founding and youngest members, performing in the Nutcracker and other productions over 13 years. Other training she received includes Ballet West Conservatory and many workshops including the Boulder Jazz Workshop. Shawna received the prestigious William F. Christensen Scholarship to study ballet at the University of Utah, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts (BFA) in Ballet with a performing emphasis and danced with the Utah Ballet Company and studied with William F. Christensen, Bene Arnold, Conrad Ludlow, Attila Ficzere, and many other famous teachers and choreographers. Shawna is an accomplished performer. Some of her favorite roles include: Swanhilda in Coppelia, Sugar Plum in the Nutcracker, Paquita and Symphony C. Upon graduation, she began teaching ballet and jazz technique along with the Midwest Ballet Company Classes at the Academy of Ballet Arts and jazz technique at the University of Utah. In 2000, Shawna moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she continued dancing and teaching at Canyon Concert Ballet. Shawna also has a passion for choreography and has had some of her works showcased in The Millennium Celebration, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sandy Dance Alliance, and numerous studio and school productions. Shawna moved to Sioux Falls in 2006 where she teaches dance at Family Wellness and at Balleraena Dance Studio. Shawna is very excited to share her love of dance with her students! |
