Balleraena Dance Company
Description
Balleraena Dance Company (BDC) is
designed to advance the knowledge and skills of seriously focused dancers and
take their performance to a higher level of development. BDC performs
all styles of dance. BDC performers serve as ambassadors of dance and are role models to younger children
at Balleraena Dance Studio and the Sioux Falls Community.
Auditions
The auditions for 2010/2011 Balleraena Dance Company will be held March 19, 2010 at
6:30 PM. Not all who audition will make the company. You will need to bring a
small photograph "head shot" to auditions. I am looking for 8-14 dancers
who will constantly work on pieces and will be ready to be performed at a
minute's notice. The company will be made up of all forms of dance. You will
need to be enrolled in Ballet and be in 8th grade or up to audition.
The goal of Balleraena Dance Company will be to perform as many times as
possible at multiple functions throughout the year, and after a year take a trip
somewhere to perform. Dancers will have to audition each year in order to be in
the company.
Cost
The cost
will be $55.00/month (includes sales tax). Please also
know that there will be a extra costume costs (plus sales tax) and special camp fees throughout the year if you make it into the company.
General Expectations
Balleraena
Dance Company practices at least 2
hours per week year round with intensive summer workshops to prepare the best
programs possible. Additional practices for Fall and Spring semesters will vary
as announced. Special camps and workshops are scheduled multiple times a
year to provide the opportunity to learn from local, regional, and national
dancers/choreographers. Company dancers are expected to attend at least
two summer advanced dance camps and all company dance camps. Attendance at these
lessons and workshops is essential to attain quality and skills. Therefore,
dancers need to limit their absences. If absences are excessive or unexcused,
dancers may be asked to step down so another committed dancer can fulfill the
expectations. In addition to enrollment in BDC, dancers must be enrolled in at
least one other ballet dance lesson.

Performances
The Balleraena Dance Company is
available to perform for public business meetings, Christmas parties, and
other gatherings. They can perform in a variety of dance styles and/or time
