Kaylie Ortman grew up in the Sioux Falls area and began dancing at age 5. She studied ballet, jazz, pointe, tap, lyrical, liturgical, and broadway, but she fell in love with ballet. She has progressed through 6 levels of the Cecchetti ballet method as a student, and performed many soloist roles in the ballets Giselle, and Les Sylphides, and lead roles such as Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and-- her favorite--Lise, in the comedic ballet La Fille Mal Gardeé. Kaylie has spent summers studying with the première Christian company, Ballet Magnificat! In Jackson, MS as well as earned a scholarship for the Cecchetti International Dance Intensive in Holland, MI. She recently spent a month in West China studying traditional music and dance of the region.
Kaylie is a member of the Cecchetti Council of America, through which she has obtained her teaching certificates through Cecchetti Grade V. She has taught ballet and choreographed for the dance ministry team in Sioux Falls throughout the last 5 years. Kaylie is excited to join the faculty at Balleraena and will be teaching beginning ballet, tap, and lyrical and intermediate/advanced ballet. She has a passion for the art of ballet, choreography, and serving the Sioux Falls community through dance.
